The Computer and Electronics Engineering Department (CEEN) hosted its annual National Science Foundation (NSF) workshop on robotics at PKI this summer. Targeting middle school math and science teachers and featuring programmable robots, the workshop is part of a $3 million NSF grant the department was awarded to develop the robotics curriculum. This summer, "CEENBoT" made its debut. This new platform was designed by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln CEEN Department to enhance K-12 mathematics and science curriculum through the construction of robots and to engage college students majoring in computer and electronics engineering.

Also new this year, five young students, the primary beneficiaries of this new platform, were invited to participate in the workshop and provide feedback.

Faculty from UNL's College of Engineering, together with UNO's College of Education and teachers attending the workshop, are striving to develop a CEENBoT enhanced curriculum to strengthen science, technology, engineering and mathematics studies on a national scale over the next five years, and ultimately to encourage careers in the fields of science and engineering.
