CEEN 4980: Senior Thesis

Catalog Entry (2009-2010):

4980 Senior Thesis(3) The capstone design course for the B.S. in computer engineering and electronics engineering. The student will complete a design project that demonstrates his/her ability to combine knowledge from individual courses in the program to complete a design task. Prereq: CEEN 3100 and 3610, or CEEN 4330; and ENGL 3980 or ENGR 3000.

Course Outcomes:

  1. Students can take an idea from the design to prototype level. (3, 4, 5, 6)
  2. Students can perform the required research necessary for product design and development (3, 4, 6, 7)
  3. Students can design relatively complex systems with elements of digital, analog telecommunications, microprocessors, microcontrollers, and other electronics and computer circuits. (5, 6, 7, 8)
  4. Students can construct and debug the prototype unit. (5, 6, 7, 8, 9defhi)
  5. Students can develop the required initialization, drivers and other required software in assembly and/or C/C++.(5, 6, 7, 9defhi)
  6. Students can provide cost analysis for a project. (10)
  7. Students can make a formal presentation of the developed project. (13)
  8. Students can generate engineering reports including the schematic, programs listing, and the required decoding logic. (15)
